Partner 1 profile: a company or research centre with research experience in the field of transport, urban issues and infrastructure (NOT in Spain)./ Role: to design the pieces of the system and carry out their validation. It will be in charge of the quality and homologation process of the system and of developing the life cycle analysis of the new system. Partner 2 profile: a construction company experienced in the field of transport, urban issues and infrastructure (NOT in Spain)/ Role: to provide design parameters and specifications for the system. Besides, it will carry out the engineering calculation and design of the system, the pilot impelementation and the validation in the real field.

The main aim of the project is to develop and commercially launch a new modular bike lane made of recycled materials (polypropylene, elastomers and fibers) that satisfy all current infrastructure needs with no maintenance, a long life time and being cost competitive. Besides, this development will highly contribute to the European Union Circular Economy Action Plan.

Its expected objectives are:

- to eliminate the difficulty of integrating a new lane in cities or built new infrastructures

- to contribute to sustainable urban transport by implementing an extensive and coordinated cycle lane infrastructure, allowing an extremely efficient use of road space in any area

- to decrease construction times by 70% and facillitate the installation of cycle infrastructures

- to prevent excavation damages derived from the installation of systems such as pipes or electrical systems

- to eliminate maintenance costs associated to current bike lanes

- to solve the main problem derived from asphalt which highly retains heat. RECYCLANE will avoid temperature increase and air pollution consequently

- to be accesible to more vulnerable groups through its adaptable design

- to reuse postconsumed plastics as a valuable raw material, highly contributing to solve current economic and environmental problems derived from plastics and to the circular economy

EU funding levels are fixed at 70% of elegible costs for industry participants and 100% for RTOs. The indicative EU contribution per action is expected to be between 1-2€ million and in justified cases, an EU contribution of up to 3€ million can be considered
