ERRIN Briefing on the European Innovation Partnership on Water
The new EIP on water will be launched in April 2012. A steering group will be set up to develop a strategic implementation plan. Similarly to the EIP on Healthy Ageing, there is no direct funding for the EIP but FP7 and future research and innovation calls will support the three proposed work packages:
• urban water management
• rural water management
• industrial water management
Horizontal and cross-cutting issues will also be addressed along with possible ‘innovation sites’ which may be large-scale actions involving a multi-disciplinary approach and involving the whole innovation cycle.
There is obviously a strong regional dimension to the EIP on water and many regions were involved in the recent stakeholder meeting in Brussels see http://ec.europa.eu/environment/water/innovationpartnership/
Following ERRIN’s presence at the stakeholder meeting, ERRIN is therefore very pleased to welcome three Commission speakers directly involved in the future EIP who will present the objectives of the EIP on water, the proposed roadmap and the opportunities for regions to engage in this new EIP.
