It is important for ERRIN members to be aware of the focus and detailed requirements of these different initiatives in order to be able to advise their practitioners effectively. Also, it may be difficult for innovation practitioners to make contact with their equivalents in other European countries, since much of their work involves engaging with locally-based companies.
The ERRIN Innovation Funding Group is a horizontal working group that aims at maximizing the funding opportunities of its members and increasing the capacity of regional innovation practitioners to engage successfully with EU transnational funding opportunities.
Its pro-active, forward-looking work is carried out by three subgroups:
- Innovation under EU research and regional policy (Focus on: FP7 Regions of Knowledge, Research Infrastructures, SME measures, Marie Curie, IAPP, Structural Funds Coordination, EU Budget)
- Enterprise and clusters (Focus on: Cluster Alliance, CIP – Lead Markets Initiatives, Entrepreneurship – Oslo Agenda, EIB loans, SME/Enterprise)
- Skills education and training (EIT – Knowledge Transfer, 2009 Year Creativity and Innovation, University/Business Cooperation, Education and Training 2020)
The group is led by Welsh Higher Education Brussels and Cantabria Regional Development Agency.
