Broadband development will be thoroughly scrutinized during a two day event which brings together the most important actors on the broadband deployment and policy making scene.
Day 1 - 20 November 2017
- Broadband for everyone in Europe - Launch Event of the Broadband Competence Offices Network and the Support Facility: The European Network of Broadband Competence Offices (BCOs) inform and give advice to citizens and businesses and provide technical support to representatives of local and regional authorities on ways to invest effectively in broadband – and whenever possible in combination with financial instruments. The European Commission has set up the Broadband Competence Offices Support Facility (BCO-SF) to animate and facilitate exchanges between the members of the BCO network. The launch event taking place on the 20th of November in Brussels aims to publicly launch the BCO-SF and to promote and facilitate networking among BCOs at national and regional level, as well as among other key stakeholders in the field of Broadband.
- European Broadband Awards: As every year, the European Commission will award successful high-capacity network projects across Europe. Projects in the area of innovative financing, business and investment models, cost reduction measures and co-investment opportunities, the strengthening of territorial cohesion in rural and remote areas, the increase of socio-economic impact and affordability of services and a contribution to openness and competition of the network have been selected and evaluated. According to their level of excellence, three projects per category have been selected and the winners would be announced in the Broadband Awards in the evening of the 20th of November.
Day 2 - 21 November 2017
- B-Day: Towards Giga Europe Conference: Taking stock of what has been achieved in the last year since the Commission adopted the proposal for the revision of the Telecom Package, a number of new initiatives such as WiFi4EU were introduced. The day will take stock of the past and look into the future examining new instruments both for policy and funding as well as new initiatives.
Registration to all three events will open on the 15th of July (details will be published here)
