Tackling Climate Change: Co-creating Personal Carbon Trading Scheme

KICK-OFF LUNCHEON WORKSHOP FOR THE CITY OF LAHTI’S UIA PROJECT CITICAP European Green Capital 2020 finalist City of Lahti, Finland, has the pleasure of inviting you to a luncheon workshop to discuss innovative ways of designing and implementing policy on sustainable urban mobility for carbon neutral cities. Workshop presents the CitiCAP project, funded by the Urban Innovative Actions Initiative. A Personal Carbon Trading (PCT) scheme for mobility will be co-created and implemented during the project to tackle climate change by reducing traffic emissions. This is the first city-wide pilot of PCT ever performed and it represents a fresh approach to participatory everyday environmental politics. PCT is based on the ‘polluter pays’ principle. We are eager to hear, how do you view the role of citizens in transition towards a carbon neutral urban future? How might PCT bridge the gap between policy makers and citizens in sustainable action? What constitutes a publicly acceptable PCT scheme and what should be taken into account when we aim to design a truly equal and fair public participation model in urban mobility? How do you see the potential and possible challenges of PCT model in your home town? Join and share your views to promote green transition of European cities. We look forward to seeing you in Brussels! Workshop is an EU Green Week 2018 partner event.
