The decarbonisation of transport will play a critical role in meeting global climate change goals, and in reducing the damage done to human health and the environment by local air pollution. Across Europe, a range of initiatives have been developed at the local level, by both public and private organisations, which pilot innovative approaches to low carbon transport. However, the widespread deployment of zero and low-emission vehicles, and their supporting infrastructure, remains a significant challenge faced by both cities and regions.
Sharing the experience and lessons learned, will help others to develop their own approaches and accelerate progress towards the wider decarbonisation of vehicles and transport systems. This workshop will feature four presentations from different European regions (including Dundee City Council, Berlin and Northern Netherlands) on both light and heavy-duty vehicles. A panel discussion will address cross-cutting issues and consider how progress could be accelerated.
