To successfully implement Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS), stakeholders need to be involved in feeding new ideas into research and bringing innovations to market. This allows the entrepreneurial discovery process to take place. Key to this are European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) which fund research, innovation and cluster projects. Regional stakeholders face significant challenges when implementing ESIF projects. However, many regions have developed innovative ways of simplifying implementation.
The workshop aims to highlight examples of regional best practices and will focus on using ESIF to strengthen knowledge-based economies through the exchange of innovative approaches. This should facilitate interregional capacity building.
The event will begin with a general overview of strategies to implement regional innovation systems. The second part of the workshop will give participants a deeper insight into specific regional strategies, programmes and best practices.
The workshop will be jointly organised by the Representation of Saxony-Anhalt to the European Union and the following partners: Centre-Val-de-Loire, Eszak-Alföld, Mazovia, North-Middle-Sweden, Lower Austria, Valencia and Wales.
