Digital Assembly 2019 - Bucharest, Romania

Digital Assembly 2019 (DA 2019), hosted by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will take place on the 13-14 June. The DA2019 will be held in the ROMEXPO Exhibition Centre, Bucharest, Romania. This major annual forum offers invaluable networking opportunities and future-focused discussions with high-level policymakers and stakeholders. It comes at a crucial moment for the formulation of our future European digital policy with a newly elected European Parliament and the entry into office of the next Commission later this year. The event not only offers an opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved with the DSM Strategy since 2015, but also how the EU should respond to remaining digital challenges and which priorities it should set for the next 5 years. In the morning of 13 June the European Commission, the Committee of Regions and Eurocities will arrange a workshop entitled “Digital 4 Communities”. This workshop will discuss how we best can scale up, share/transfer and measure digital innovation in cities and communities, with an aim to boost local economy, services and democracy. On 14th June morning there will also be a plenary session "Digital 4 Communities” where local, national and EU level authorities and stakeholders will present the latest achievements and progress regarding benefits obtained through digital innovation. We believe you will find this particularly interesting, and that you see this opportunity to actively contribute to discussions that will pave the way for a brighter future for local and regional Europe. Other topics that will be discussed in both plenary and workshop sessions are: How can Europe regain greater technology leadership to achieve a more self–reliant digital ecosystem? How do we ensure that digital technologies and applications make their full contribution to tackling climate change? What are the green growth opportunities for the digital sector? How do we steer the future of work to reap the opportunities of digitalisation, manage transitions and support our unique social protection systems? Please register early, as attendance will be organised on a “first come/first served” basis and capacity is limited. It is also advisable to make timely arrangements for your stay, as June is a busy tourist period in Bucharest. If you cannot personally attend and would like to send an alternate, please inform us and we will contact him/her directly. To register, please request a personal invitation at CNECT-DA-2019@ec.europa.eu Please check the Digital Assembly webpage for the latest news and programme. The conference will be held in English, with interpretation in Romanian and French.
