Innovation in Politics Awards - apply by 15 July

The 3rd edition of Innovation in Politics Awards, a civil society initiative is meant to distinguish courageous policy makers who develop innovative solutions for the common good. The award is recognising politicians who have the courage to break new ground, who are creative and achieve real results – regardless of party affiliation and regional level, and based on our European values: social balance, democracy and human rights. We bring their innovative work to the fore, so that it may serve as a source of inspiration.

What projects can be nominated? 

Projects can be nominated in eight categories: Civilisation, Democracy, Human Rights, Community, Ecology, Prosperity, Jobs, and Quality of Life. The projects must be innovative and meet at least one of the following additional criteria: Participation, Building Trust, and Sustainability. 

What are the formal criteria for a project to be accepted?

- It must have taken place in a member country of the Council of Europe.
- A politician or group of politicians must have played a key role in the distinguished action.

- It must have been financed (at least partially) by public funds.
- It must have had a substantial impact on the lives of people in a CoE member country (no pure communication campaigns or events, no scientific studies, and no projects at the planning stage).
- It must be in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

The candidates can submit the nomination themselves, or they can be nominated by us or any other entity by using this website.  

The deadline is 15 July 2019. The award ceremony will be 4 December 2019 in Berlin.
