Proposal Information
Potential project contents Development of zero-emission strategy (“positive energy districts”) Development aspects: Utilization of waste heat potentials (from data center) Load management and smart grid (as well energy storage aspects) Development of virtual power plant Substitution of drinking water (usage of rain water, shared infrastructure) Expansion and integration of renewables (focus on PV installations) Integration of mobility and energy system Installation of zero-emission monitoring   Implementation in Frankfurt Our idea is to take advantage of the already existing “Sustainable Industrial and Commercial Area” and to transform it into a smart sustainable and industrial area – “SMARTICA”. Therefore, our goal is to Use “smart-grid” solutions to connect local companies in a smart way in order to find solutions for urgent challenges (mobility, energy savings, sealing of soils etc.) Define a limited block (size to be defined) within the “Sustainable Industrial and Commercial Area” and use it as a showcase model. The goal is to test smart solutions and extend it step by step to other districts. Include neighboring residential (e. g. waste heat usage)   Partner Search We are looking for… Potential city partners with a similar industrial park focus (size and focus of long term development) Industry partners with interest in the development of the above-mentioned topics Academia partners with the focus on research of SMART City aspects   Interested Partners City of Frankfurt – Energy Department Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH SIEMENS AG Germany   Funding ideas Horizon 2020 Smart Cities and Communities Call (LC-SC3-SCC-1-2018-2019-2020) – due to the complex application requirements, we seek to apply to the project call in 2020.
