Koprivnica is a city of 30,854 inhabitants in north-west Croatia. Internationally recognized for food processing and pharmaceutical industry as well as Croatian naïve art movement, it is also the educational, cultural and sports centre of regional importance.
Koprivnica ambitiously pursues European development and environmental policies and launches brave modern solutions, aimed at reaching high standards of life for all citizens, present and future.
Active sustainable mobility policies of the city have been present since 2001 and resulted in the high percentage of cyclists and pedestrians in the city centre. Koprivnica has achieved a high recognition by winning the European Mobility Week Award in 2008. So far, there are over 80km of cycling tracks/ pedestrian footpaths inside the city and over 70 km of scenic cycling routes in the surroundings. Besides regular improvements of pedestrian paths, a network of Koprivnica Health Paths has been established in recent years which are promoted through health clubs and doctors’ offices.
In addition to sustainable transport policies and projects, Koprivnica has Energy Declaration (energy-efficiency policy), Local Agenda 21 adopetd in 2008 and SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) adopted in 2015.
