Circular economy in regions and cities: Tackling the challenges and seizing the opportunities
The European Policy Centre (EPC), with the support of the Welsh Government Brussels Office, is organising a policy dialogue on 'Circular Economy in Cities and Regions: Tackling the Challenges and Seizing the Opportunities'. The hybrid event will take place on 11 March from 14:00 to 16:00 at the EPC premises, located at 14-16 rue du Trône, 1000 Brussels.
This discussion will explore the crucial role of cities and regions in advancing the circular economy. While circularity can reduce carbon emissions, resource consumption, and waste, progress remains slow, with only 8.6 per cent of resources recycled globally. Cities are key to accelerating the transition, as they are responsible for most energy use and emissions.
The policy dialogue will showcase good practices at the local and regional levels. It will also highlight the opportunities and benefits of circular economy initiatives, including the Circular Economy Act, for economic resilience and sustainable development.
