EWRC session: Towards climate-resilient cities and regions

EWRC session: Towards climate-resilient cities and regions

This event will explore the progress made to date by local and regional authorities (LRAs) across Europe in their actions to adapt to climate change. The event will consider the barriers to these actions, including insufficient resources (financial, human and technical), unavailability of relevant knowledge, weak political commitment and unsupportive regulatory environment.

The workshop will be opened by the Committee of the Regions and the Covenant of Mayors will present the status quo of sub-national adaptation to climate change in Europe.

The session will also consider the role of regions in securing a climate-resilient future in the context of the Horizon Europe Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. ERRIN continues to work on this mission and the network's first input document, which follows on from an ERRIN webinar with the mission board chair Connie Hedegaard, can be found here

The event will use examples from the Italy-Croatia Adriadapt project and include a debate involving the audience.
