Net-Zero Industry Act: Implementation and Opportunities
In the context of the EU Green Deal and the new Clean Industrial Deal, the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) is a key EU initiative that aims to strengthen Europe’s net-zero technology manufacturing capacity and ensure industrial competitiveness in the green transition. For ERRIN members – regions and cities driving local innovation and industrial development – understanding and engaging with the NZIA is crucial to aligning regional strategies with EU priorities and accessing emerging opportunities.
Following an initial exchange on the NZIA in March 2024, the Energy and Climate Change Working Group is organising an online webinar to update its members on the NZIA’s implementation. This meeting aims to support discussion on the potential roles of regions within the NZIA framework, highlight members’ interests and challenges and encourage reflections on the concept of Net-Zero Acceleration Valleys.
Representatives from the European Commission (DG GROW and DG EMPL) will present updates on the current implementation, with a focus on the Net-Zero Acceleration Valleys, strategic projects and skills development through the Net-Zero Industry Academies. A representative from the first officially recognised Net-Zero Acceleration Valley in Lausitz, Germany, will also share regional insights. This could help spark discussion around ERRIN members’ needs and interests around Net-Zero Valleys.
The agenda is available on the right-hand side.
