Luncheon Seminar
Hosted by City of Lahti
Circular economy is one of the EU´s most important political priorities today which can be also seen in the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. Lahti is well-known for its pioneering work in smart sustainable city development. Lahti is fully committed to become emission- and waste-free, a complete circular-economy city by 2040!
First regional circular economy roadmap in Finland is made in Lahti
A circular economy roadmap of the Lahti Region was the first Finnish regional circular economy roadmap. The work was conducted by the Lahti University of Applied Sciences and began with a thorough mapping and analysis of material flows in the region. This regional circular economy roadmap serves as an important and interesting showcase to other regions in Europe as well.
Urban food production in Lahti contributes to the EU Bioeconomy Strategy
Cities also play a significant role in the bioeconomy sector as stated in the updated EU Bioeconomy Strategy. The luncheon seminar presents globally scalable results from one of the bioeconomy sectors, the food production.
