Historic Environment Scotland is the lead public body to investigate, care and promote Scotland’s historic environment. The organisation is responsible for more than 300 properties of national importance, which in turn attract more than 3 million visitors per year. They support local and national bodies in the conservation of important sites, are responsible for internationally renowned collections, and contribute to the Scottish Government’s strategy on low carbon and climate change.
This discussion will centre on current challenges and innovative developments in the conservation of the historic environment. Representatives of Historic Environment Scotland will present projects developed collaboratively with EU and international partners, focusing on novel approaches to skills & education, digital techniques for the interpretation of heritage sites and their adaptation to climate change impacts. The presentations will be followed by a discussion with the participants.
After the seminar Scotland Europa and the Scottish Government, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, will host our annual summer reception at Scotland House. 2017 marks Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. This year, we delve into the past to celebrate the richness of Scotland’s intriguing history, impressive cultural heritage and fascinating archaeology. We would be delighted to invite you to join us for the summer reception, which will be held in our conference centre.
To register, reply by 10 July to Scotland.House@scotent.co.uk (please also state if you will be attending the summer reception).
