SCREEN's International Workshop: "Barriers and shortcuts to Circular Economy"

SCREEN (Synergic Circular Economy across European Regions) is an H2020 coordinating and supporting action participated by 17 European regions, aiming at the definition of a replicable systemic approach towards a transition to Circular Economy in EU regions within the context of the Smart Specialization Strategy. The project also deals with the identification and implementation of operational synergies between investments in research and innovation under Horizon 2020, the Structural Funds and the European Investment Funds. This third SCREEN International Workshop is organized by CCDR Centro (Regional Coordination and Development Commission – Centro of Portugal), and aims at ensuring an exchange of information among project partners and external public and private stakeholders on how to overcome barriers to the development of trans-regional circular economy initiatives and find targeted shortcuts. As a priority, the workshop will also aims at stimulating the preparation of future collaborative projects and synergies aligned with the strategic areas identified by the SCREEN partners (within the Agriculture & food, (Smart) Packaging, (Resources from) water and wastewater, Biobased materials & biotechnology, Manufacturing and re-manufacturing, (Bio)Waste management and Construction domains). Finally, the SCREEN Policy Lab will have a dedicated session addressing the project’s Memorandum of Understanding, which has the aim of paving the way to the future synergic application of funds for cross regional projects dealing with circular economy.
