VeneToStars 2025: Challenging young European innovators on Space and Blue economy

The Region of Veneto is organising the an event which will explore the potential of space data and technologies to address key challenges in maritime sectors like sustainability, logistics, and ecosystem protection. The theme, central to the 2025 VeneToStars challenge, highlights Veneto Region's leadership in both maritime industries and its growing role in space.

The upcoming event will present the theme of the 2025 edition of VeneToStars challenge: Space & Blue Economy.

VeneToStars is an initiative promoted by the Veneto Region to encourage young European innovators to develop ideas that, starting from space data and technology, can face some of the Blue Economy challenges. They can also design new services, products or business models for the benefit of both the Space and Blue Economy stakeholders. Veneto Region is a leader in Italy for its expertise in maritime industries – fishing, logistics, and shipbuilding – and is also gaining recognition in the space sector through projects with the Italian (ASI) and European Space Agencies (ESA).

The Ventostars Challenge 2025 aims at strengthening the synergies between those two industries and address regional needs like: environmental protection, sustainable energy, logistics, cultural preservation, marine ecosystem monitoring, remote sensing data applications, etc. Participants are encouraged to propose solutions that could have real-world applications in Veneto, demonstrating the practical impact of combining space and maritime knowledge.

The VeneToStars finals will take place within the Space Meetings Veneto event (Venice, 20-22 May 2025) and winning teams will be invited to spend additional one week in Venice to learn, visit, upgrade, meet and of course enjoy the venetian hospitality.
