Voices of the CHARTER Community: Cultural Heritage skills strategies and skills development - recognising prior learning and diverse resources

Voices of the CHARTER Community webinar: Cultural Heritage skills strategies, skills development, recognising prior learning

Voices of the CHARTER Community: learning from inspiring cases

During this webinar, taking place on 27 March you will learn about three inspiring practices. How can we ensure better recognition of cultural heritage skills and knowledge, from prior learning to craft expertise? How do we counteract the loss of heritage skills while fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce? And most importantly, how can we develop a skills strategy that will align cultural heritage skills with a rapidly changing scenario?

This session will bring together experts and practitioners who have successfully implemented innovative approaches to skills development, accreditation, and workforce diversification. Through insightful discussions and real-world examples, we will explore:

  • Recognising Prior Learning & Skills Strategies – A look at the experience in Tuscany - Miriana Bucalossi (Tuscany Region) and Alessandro Monti (Florence University) in conversation with Martina De Luca.
  • Counteracting the Loss of Heritage Skills – Insights from the ASTRA Museum in Sibiu County, Romania, focusing on how museums can act as training accreditation centres. Ciprian Stefan in conversation with Karin Drda-Kühn.
  • Diversifying the Heritage Workforce – The Diversity Agents Programme in Finland addressing strategies to enhance inclusion in cultural heritage organisations. Arlene Tucker in conversation with Margherita Sani.

This webinar will provide a platform to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges, and explore policy recommendations shaping the future of heritage professions in Europe.

About CHARTER

The CHARTER project ran from 2021-2024 aiming to bring together and represent the whole range of the European cultural heritage sector. The 47 project partners strived to make cultural heritage's value apparent and create a resilient and responsive sector. ERRIN and six of its members pioneered this first sectoral skills blueprint project under Erasmus+, which included regions from the start and took a solid regional focus when investigating the skills demands and supply in the sector.

CHARTER Legacy: what's next?

ERRIN's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group will explore in 2025 the establishment of an interregional skills partnership for cultural heritage under the Pact for Skills. The topic of skills is of interest to ERRIN's Culture and Creativity cluster. ERRIN will seek synergies with the S3 partnership for cultural and creative ecosystems. Members who are interested in following these developments or Education and training providers (VET, higher education, and LLL) who are keen to contribute to such a partnership can express their interest by reaching out to astrid.hannes@errin.eu
