The European Committee of the Regions' upcoming workshop will consist of a qualitative assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on Europe's regions and cities. The discussion will be part of a larger report on the State of the Cities and regions in the crisis - called the Barometer of cities and regions.

The report will be delivered by 4th September and will include:

• Assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on Europe's regions and cities
• Review of the EU's response, particularly at the local and regional level 
• Policy recommendations
• Reality check
• Responses during the pandemic to investing in social and employment, SMEs, education and youth, science policy and research.

Day 1 of the workshop will include a brainstorming session and consideration of relevant statistical indicators and day 2 will present a discussion of the findings, results and hypotheses, as well as policy recommendations.
