Cities Mission Conference 2024

The third annual conference for the Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities will be held in Valencia, Spain, on 25-26 June 2024. The European Commission and NetZeroCities invite political representatives and practitioners from the 112 Mission Cities to celebrate the Mission’s progress and to share valuable insights, experiences, and inspiration. 

Future Now Forum - Elevating Urban Innovation

The Future Now Forum, held in Linköping, Sweden, on September 16-17, 2024, delves into sustainable urban solutions, featuring international speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions. Additionally, it highlights the innovations and partnerships that positioned Linköping as 2023's European Rising Innovative City. The event unites experts and leaders from various sectors, offering a collaborative platform to address urban challenges and opportunities.

SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs)

The SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs) serve as the primary platform for the SESAR Joint Undertaking to share advancements and disseminate research findings related to air traffic management (ATM). The SIDs invite contributions from the ATM research community through an open call. The event will take place on 12-15 November 2024.

DREAM - Smart City for All

Lunchtime briefing: The 7th Cohesion Report: facts, findings and conclusions

This lunchtime briefing is an opportunity for participants to get an insight into the European Commission's 7th Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion. Lewis Dijkstra, the editor of the report, will present its facts, findings and conclusions as well as next steps with regards to the debate about cohesion policy's future post-2020. Higher education cooperation for development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Meeting global and regional challenges

The MEP Mr Bogdan Brunon Wenta, the European University Association and the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) are co-organising a seminar entitled “Higher education cooperation for development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Meeting global and regional challenges”. The seminar will take place on 18 October, from 14.30 to 16.30, at the European Parliament in Brussels. The main objective of the seminar is to explore the contribution of higher education to education, research and innovation capacity building in developing countries.

Making ICT standards fit for Active and Healthy Ageing in Europe

Opening Science WG

The meeting will focus on the role of universities and citizens in the future framework programme. On July 3rd the European Commission published the report of the High Level Group on the future of European research policy. The so called Lamy-Report bears the title „Fab-Lab-App” and focuses on the aspect of increasing the impact of European research. The title gives already a summary of the outlined structure of the new programme: science and skills, innovation and competitiveness and global challenges.

Switch - an international exploration of light, transforming life

During the World Design Event, which is part of the Dutch Design Week, the platform 'Switch' will be presented at the City Hall and City Square of Eindhoven. The kick off of this exciting program is on Saturday October 21. It will be an international exploration of Light, transforming life. ICT as an enabler for Smart Cities

The ERRIN SCC, ICT and Opening Science WGs joint event "ICT as an enabler for Smart Cities" will take place on 26th October. The event will present the Horizon 2020 2018-2020 work plan relating to smart cities and highlight successful triple helix partnerships at the city level. The morning will begin with an introduction to upcoming calls for Smart Cities under Horizon 2020. With the aim of highlighting successful triple helix partnerships in Smart Cities projects, we have invited three speakers, each representing a part of the triple helix; an university, a public authority and a business.
