Euro Science Open Forum 2020 - Trieste (Italy)

Euro Science Open Forum 2020 (ESOF2020), an EuroScience international conference will take place on 5-9 July 2020 in Trieste, nominated the 2020 European City of Science. The conference is the 9th edition of a series of large biennial meetings which bring together scientists from academia and industry, policy makers from Europe and beyond, students and young researchers, regional agencies and the business world with a mission-oriented approach to innovation.

Lunchtime briefing: The 7th Cohesion Report: facts, findings and conclusions

This lunchtime briefing is an opportunity for participants to get an insight into the European Commission's 7th Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion. Lewis Dijkstra, the editor of the report, will present its facts, findings and conclusions as well as next steps with regards to the debate about cohesion policy's future post-2020. Higher education cooperation for development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Meeting global and regional challenges

The MEP Mr Bogdan Brunon Wenta, the European University Association and the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) are co-organising a seminar entitled “Higher education cooperation for development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Meeting global and regional challenges”. The seminar will take place on 18 October, from 14.30 to 16.30, at the European Parliament in Brussels. The main objective of the seminar is to explore the contribution of higher education to education, research and innovation capacity building in developing countries.

Opening Science WG

The meeting will focus on the role of universities and citizens in the future framework programme. On July 3rd the European Commission published the report of the High Level Group on the future of European research policy. The so called Lamy-Report bears the title „Fab-Lab-App” and focuses on the aspect of increasing the impact of European research. The title gives already a summary of the outlined structure of the new programme: science and skills, innovation and competitiveness and global challenges.

Making ICT standards fit for Active and Healthy Ageing in Europe

The PROGRESSIVE project is organising a brainstorming workshop to debate how standards, mainly those related to ICT as an enabler of Active and Healthy Ageing (AHA), can better meet the needs of Europe's ageing population.
