Helsinki EU Office is a Brussels-based office representing the City of Helsinki, City of Espoo, City of Vantaa, Helsinki-Uusimaa Region, Kymenlaakso Region, Päijät-Häme Region, Aalto University, University of Helsinki, University of the Arts Helsinki, Hanken School of Economics, Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, Natural Resources Institute Finland, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Arcada University of Applied sciences. Helsinki EU Office supervises its shareholders’ interests and promotes their visibility in different EU fora. The office also provides information regarding the preparation of EU legislation, EU funding programmes, events, co-operation, and networking opportunities. Helsinki EU Office actively follows European urban and regional policy, cohesion policy, research and innovation policy, transport, environment and energy policy, culture and creative policies as well as digitalisation and health policy.

Call for examples on the role of DIH in supporting public authorities’ digital transformation 

The ICT Working Group is looking for examples from local and regional authorities, as well as Digital Innovation Hubs, working on digital transformation. The examples will be presented in an upcoming meeting on “The role of DIH in supporting public authorities’ digital transformation”, which will take place on Tuesday 21 May 2024 (10:30 to 12:30 CEST).

23 new Mission Cities awarded the Mission Label

During a dedicated session at the EU Research & Innovation Days, 23 new cities part of the EU Mission on 100 climate-neutral and smart cities were awarded the Mission Label for their plans to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. ERRIN is pleased to see that 15 cities are located in ERRIN member regions.

26 additional cities selected to join the NetZeroCities Pilot Cities Programme

The NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, has selected 26 additional cities from 16 countries to take part in its Pilot Cities Programme. ERRIN is delighted to note that 12 cities from ERRIN member regions have been chosen, including Riga and Lyon, both supported by ERRIN’s NetZeroCities Climate Neutral Cities Advisors.

Management Board elections 2023 – results

Following the call for nominations for ERRIN Management Board held between 20 September and 5 October, we are happy to announce the nominated Management Board members. The five nominees will be approved as new Management Board members at the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November.

Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2023 published

On 6 July, the Commission released the newest bi-annual Regional Innovation Scoreboard (RIS). The RIS allows for a closer examination of the innovation performance within European regions and the new edition is to be taken as a reference for consortium eligibility in the current Regional Innovation Valleys call for proposals under Horizon Europe. The 2023 edition of the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS) was also published.
