The European Commission has adopted its proposal for 'A Pact for Research and Innovation in Europe.' The pact supports the implementation of national European Research Area (ERA) policies. 

The purpose of the pact is to be the long-standing foundation for the EU's commitment to the new ERA, building on principles for R&I in Europe including freedom of scientific research, equal opportunities for all, societal responsibility, inclusivity and the free circulation of researchers and knowledge.
