Call for evidence open for the new EU tourism strategy
The European Commission launches a new strategy aimed at transforming the EU tourism sector to become more sustainable, resilient and competitive, in light of challenges ranging from climate change and regional imbalances to geopolitical tensions and structural fragmentation.
The strategy draws on existing EU tools and policies to strengthen tourism's ties with other sectors, promote balanced territorial development and bolster the sector's long-term growth prospects.
Key objectives include: - Establishing the EU as a global leader in sustainable tourism - Supporting SMEs and destination management organisations (DMOs) to foster balanced and long-term growth - Encouraging stronger cross-sector collaboration to maximise tourism’s contribution to the EU economy and society
In parallel with the launch of the strategy, the Commission has opened a call for evidence, inviting citizens, businesses and stakeholders to share their views on how best to shape this initiative.
The feedback period is from 20 June to 12 September 2025. The contributions will be published online and must comply with the EU's feedback rules. To take part, contributors need to register or log in, which can also be done via existing social media accounts.
More information on the call for evidence is available here.
