The 2021 edition of the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) Award has been launched, with interested regions and cities encouraged to apply until 31 March 2020. 

The EER is awarded by the European Committee of the Regions every year to up-to three regions that are implementing outstanding future-oriented entrepreneurial strategy to support SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups. 

This is the first year that the competition will run with a theme and applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of its connection to the EU policy agenda and its regional and local perspective. 

All EU territories below the level of Member State can apply for this award. The benefits of winning include recongnition and visibility as well as a boost to the winning regional ecosystems.
