Applications for the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) Award have re-opened with the 2021 and 2022 application process being merged for the EER label to be extended over two years.

The lead theme for the 2021-2022 special call is 'Entrepreneurship for a sustainable recovery'. The EER is a label awarded by the European Committee of the Regions for up to three cities or regions with outstanding, future-orientated strategies to support SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups. It is also a growing network of territories working to strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems, exchange good practices and forge project partnerships. 

The special edition of the EER has been created to accommodate the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. Up to 6 regions will hold the EER label for two years, allowing them to plan and implement strategies for their social and economic recovery.
