MIP4Adapt Launches 2025 Open Call to Support Citizen Events on Climate Adaptation

The Mission Implementation Platform for Adaptation (MIP4Adapt) has launched the 2025 Open Call for Support to Citizen Events, inviting Charter Signatories of the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, as well as European regions and local authorities engaged in adaptation projects, to organise citizen events before October 31, 2025. These events aim to engage, connect, and empower communities in preparing for climate change impacts. They can take various formats, including workshops, expos, community forums, panel discussions and interactive sessions, all designed to inform and inspire local communities to participate in climate adaptation efforts.

Selected applicants will receive five days of expert assistance from the national MIP4Adapt support team, covering event design, organisation and communication. The support includes identifying relevant activities aligned with the Regional Adaptation Support Tool (RAST), selecting key topics, particularly those highlighted in the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA), addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, facilitating connections with Climate Pact Ambassadors, providing in-person assistance from a climate adaptation expert and promoting the event through MIP4Adapt’s social media channels and monthly newsletter.

Eligible applicants include Charter Signatories of the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change who have not previously engaged with MIP4Adapt Technical Assistance but wish to receive support for organising a citizen event, as well as European regions or local authorities involved in adaptation projects funded by Horizon Europe, H2020, LIFE, or Interreg programs. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis until the available budget is fully allocated.

The deadline for applications is Friday, April 11, 2025, at 18:00 CET. More details on the application process and submission can be found on the official announcement at climate-adapt.eea.europa.eu.

This initiative provides a key opportunity for regions and local authorities to actively involve their communities in climate adaptation efforts, fostering resilience and shared ownership of adaptation actions.
