Third call for the Cities Mission Twinning Learning Programme now open
The third call for the Cities Mission Twinning Learning Programme is open until 31 October 2024. The programme offers cities a unique opportunity to join an 18-month city-to-city learning programme focused on sharing knowledge to achieve their climate goals. Thirteen cities from ERRIN member regions have already joined the programme as part of Cohort 1, with Cohort 2 to be announced shortly.
Twin Cities will work towards their climate neutrality objectives while benefitting from insights and practical solutions from cities involved in the Pilot Cities Programme, which supports European cities in testing and implementing innovative approaches to rapid decarbonisation.
Selected Twin Cities will be paired with specific Pilot Cities from Cohort 2 (Oslo, Trondheim, Pecs and Miskolc, Bratislava and Kosice) and Cohort 3, and will engage in tailored learning modules, with opportunities to meet both online and in person. The programme covers the costs for three in-person site visits: two as guests of the Pilot City and one as a host.
By the end of the programme, Twin Cities will develop a Twin City Action Plan, outlining the steps they will take to further their climate transition. This process will be supported by NetZeroCities, who will oversee the programme, facilitate discussions, offer guidance, and monitor the impact in both Twin and Pilot Cities.
Applications for the Twinning Learning Programme are open from 10 September to 31 October 2024, and the selected cities will be announced in December. To be eligible, cities must:
Be in EU Member States or countries associated to Horizon Europe,
Have a commitment to achieving climate neutrality by 2050,
Not be part of the EU Cities Mission or already involved as a Twin or Pilot City.
An information session on the open call for Twin Cities will be held on 18 September from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST. Register here.
