Scotland Europa, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have the pleasure of inviting you to a breakfast seminar, organised as a side event during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2017.
Successful economies enable entrepreneurs to build competitive businesses through regional ecosystems which are supportive, open and collaborative. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) created the Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Programme (REAP) in 2012 to work with regional leadership teams to understand, convene and strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems. Scotland joined the first cohort in 2012 and has been delivering a REAP strategy since 2014.
MIT Sloan School of Management Professor Scott Stern will present an overview of the REAP programme, offering key insights on policy and practice in building strong ecosystems which enable entrepreneurship to flourish. Chair of the panel, Donna Chisholm from Highlands and Islands Enterprise in Scotland will discuss the development and implementation of a REAP strategy nationally. A panel of experts from European regions, REAP Alumni and beyond will share their views on optimising entrepreneurial ecosystems. Confirmed speakers are Lourdes Núñez-Müller from Granada Health Technology Park Foundation, champion of Team Andalusia, and Peter Klemsdal from the Sørlandet Knowledge Foundation, champion of Team Southwest Norway.
We look forward to sharing our experiences and discuss regions’ capacities to create growth and jobs with our European regional economic development partners as well as the wider policy stakeholder community.
