The Climate Adaptation Task Force builds on previous ERRIN's work around the EU Mission on Adaptation. ERRIN has followed the Mission closely and contributed to its shaping and implementation through the development of input papers, organisation of events and discussions with the Mission Secretariat. ERRIN became a Friend of the Mission in 2022, alongside 130 of its member cities and regions, and provided input on the Mission Charter
The Climate Adaptation Task Force drives and structures ERRIN's work on Mission Adaptation - building on ERRIN’s previous activities whilst engaging members in current opportunities and activities under the Mission. Further, the Task Force supports in steering the work of ERRIN's Mission Adaptation projects, while also addressing topics relevant to the local and regional implementation of the Mission.

The RESIST Community of Interest is orgasining an event focusing on empowering regional ecosystem to build climate resilience through the EU Missions. Building climate resilience requires collaboration across public authorities, businesses, research institutions, and citizens. Regions and communities play a pivotal role in leading place-based innovative solutions that anticipate and adapt to climate impacts.
On 27-28 November, the University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour and the University Paris Dauphine-PSL will host the first edition of the International Energy & Climate Law Forum.
The Baltic Sea Regional Forum for the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change will gather regional and local leaders, Mission Charter Signatories, policymakers and practitioners to exchange concrete solutions and co-create strategies for climate resilience across the Baltic macro-region.
On 24 October, ERRIN submitted its contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on the assessment of citizens and stakeholders’ engagement in the EU Missions. The consultation, led by the EFIS Centre in partnership with Technopolis Group on behalf of DG RTD (European Commission), aimed to gather feedback from key stakeholders across Europe to inform the 2026 Assessment of EU Missions.
On 5 November, ERRIN submitted its response to the European Commission’s consultation on the upcoming EU Circular Economy Act. Building on ERRIN’s extensive network of regional and local innovation ecosystems, this input paper captures the insights and expertise of leading European regional and local authorities at the forefront of advancing circular economy solutions.
Signatories to the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change are invited to report their adaptation actions through the 2025 CDP Questionnaire, open until 19 November 2025 via the CDP reporting platform. The data shared will help track progress, showcase local action and support learning across Europe. Mission-related questions are clearly tagged to facilitate easier reporting.
The 23rd European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) brought together over 6,000 participants in Brussels under the motto Shaping Tomorrow, Together. As the largest annual event on EU Cohesion Policy, it provided a platform for cities and regions to exchange ideas on sustainable development, innovation and inclusiveness. ERRIN and its members were actively engaged throughout the week, contributing to and supporting several sessions that highlighted the importance of strong and connected regional innovation ecosystems.
ERRIN invites its members – regional and local authorities, research and innovation organisations, higher education institutions, etc. – to contribute to the 2026 Assessment of EU Missions by completing a short survey open until 31 October 2025.

A strategic guide for climate solution transfers from Central Denmark to its twinning regions. This plan details how advanced tools like IoT groundwater loggers, decision-support tools for climate adaptation and XR simulations for stakeholder involvement will be adopted in Blekinge, Zemgale and Vesterålen. The document highlights practical steps, challenges and expected impacts, offering a blueprint for regions interested in digital and data-driven approaches to climate resilience.

Island regions face particular socio-economic and environmental challenges arising from insularity, resource scarcity and dependence on external markets. This course offers a multidisciplinary and comparative perspective on governance and sustainable development in island contexts. Through the analysis of practical cases and real policies, it aims to provide participants with the knowledge and tools to help build more resilient, autonomous and sustainable island territories.
