In October 2018 the European Commission launched the Blue Bioeconomy Forum as a new tool to boost the blue bioeconomy in Europe. One of the objectives of the BBF is to develop a roadmap where they will “collectively identify strategic developments, market opportunities, appropriate financial assistance, regulatory actions and research priorities to advance the blue bioeconomy in Europe”. Academia for the Ocean: How Academia is preparing the future workforce for Blue Growth worldwide

MEP José Inácio FARIA (EPP) will host the conference to discuss how Academia and Research & Innovation allied with cooperation with coastal cities, can improve effectiveness in terms of resources management. In view of the Blue Growth strategy,  views will be exchanged on how to better support sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors as a whole. Representatives from the World Maritime University, the University of Azores, Nord University and the Arctic University of Norway will be present to foster a fruitful debate on the topic. Policy for the future Arctic – the importance of research

The future of the Arctic is characterised by major challenges connected to the big changes in the climate and environment, but also great possibilities. A sustainable development in the Arctic will require international collaboration. Decisions need to be made on a solid knowledge base as pointed out both in the EU's and Norway's white papers for the Arctic.
