Design & Creativity
The Design & Creativity WG aims to raise awareness of design and creativity as tools and drivers for innovation in different sectors and across Europe. Our objectives are the following: To present challenges; especially in relation to sectors that do not yet work with design (thinking) and creativity; to showcase the importance of design & creativity through good examples and concrete cases; to create a strong and vital community among our stakeholders across Europe through a bottom-up approach; to connect designers, thinkers, business, policy and society interested in finding common solutions for different challenges and to create opportunities for the WG members to develop project proposals, share their ideas, stories and ongoing activities with the EU community.

Empowering a Competitive Union: from InvestEU to the European Competitiveness Fund
On 12 May 2025, Brussels will host the 2nd InvestEU high-level event, focusing on the future European Competitiveness Fund and InvestEU's role in boosting innovation, decarbonisation and the social sector. The conference will open with a high-level session with Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, alongside other key figures, to outline the EU’s investment agenda.
New European Bauhaus Matchmaking Event
The Gothenburg European Office and the Lille Métropole EU Office are organising an in-person New European Bauhaus matchmaking event, taking place on 24 April between 9:30 and 14:00. European Cultural Compass – ERRIN took part in the first consultation with the civil sector
On 20 March 2025, the European Commission organised the first consultation with the cultural stakeholders on the upcoming Cultural Compass – the future overarching strategic framework for the cultural and creative sectors in Europe. ERRIN took part in the discussion hosted by Commissioner Glenn Micallef, together with over 50 CCS organisations, representing voices of the regional and local stakeholders.
The European Commission launches the New European Bauhaus Facility Roadmap
The European Commission has officially introduced the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Facility Roadmap, which offers a first glimpse at the budget, governance and implementation of the NEB Facility 2025–2027, the first-ever multiannual financial tool for the New European Bauhaus. ERRIN supported the shaping of the Roadmap by participating in the European Commission’s public consultation.
ERRIN Paper Series: ‘Towards a better framework for a stronger role of regional and local ecosystems in the European Partnerships'
ERRIN is pleased to present its latest position paper on European Partnerships. This is the fourth publication in ERRIN's Towards the 10th Framework Programme paper series, providing analysis and recommendations to strengthen the role of regional and local R&I ecosystems in European Partnerships.

Cinematronic, a tech startup from Aalborg University, is developing an innovative Product Placement Platform for content creators and brands and is looking for partners for the EIT Culture & Creativity Innovation Call: Main Innovation Projects 2025 (Topic: Audio-visual media).
Clean Industrial Deal: A new European roadmap for competitiveness and decarbonisation
On 26 February, the European Commission launched the Clean Industrial Deal, a major initiative aimed at strengthening European industry by combining climate action with competitiveness. This ambitious roadmap addresses critical challenges such as high energy costs, global competition and the need for industrial decarbonisation, setting out a clear trajectory for sustainable and resilient production across Europe.

Express your interest in the 2025 Horizon Europe CCI-related calls
ERRIN’s Culture and Creativity Cluster is planning a project development session on 20 May 2025 to support its members in building consortia on the upcoming Horizon Europe Cluster 2, 6 and NEB call for proposals. ERRIN encourages all members and their stakeholders to express interest in the calls through the ERRIN Project Development Tool. Based on the expressions of interest received in the coming month, we will choose the calls that the project development session will focus on.

Call for regional examples combatting climate change for protecting cultural heritage
For its first meeting of the 2025, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group is calling ERRIN members for good local and regional examples of fighting climate change in the field of cultural heritage. The examples will be presented at the WG meeting taking place in person on 30 April 2025, 10:00-12:00 at the ERRIN Office.

European Commission launches the Union of Skills
Skills shortages and gaps are hindering EU competitiveness. Many people are falling behind as job requirements evolve, while businesses struggle to find people with the right skills and qualifications. To address these challenges, the European Commission launched the Union of Skills. This new initiative will deliver a new approach, combining education, training and employment policies with a common vision of competitiveness. ERRIN invites its members to the forthcoming meeting of the Science and Education for Society (SEFS) Working Group taking place on 2 April, which is dedicated to the Union of Skills and aims to provide more insights of what region can expect.
