Scoping The Horizon Workshop

A two-day strategic planning and proposal workshop at MetroLab will take place in Brussels in December. The workshop hopes particpants will share the burden of consortium forming and proposal preparation, allowing them to work collaborativley across different calls. Northern Netherlands in Transition Working Conference

The decision by the Dutch government to stop extracting natural gas from the Groningen gas field will have major economic implications for the Northern Netherlands. We find nowadays a strenuous effort to exploit the higher frequency spectrum, specially in the context of mmWave communications, with the aim to overcome the problems of spectrum scarcity. Some of the main challenges posed by mmWave are not at all different from the ones we encounter in optical wireless communications (OWC): higher directivity that only enables the exploitation of LoS links, and signal blockage by any obstacle present in its pathway.
