Smart Cities

The objective of the Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on priorities and funding opportunities linked to Smart Cities. The WG aims to facilitate sharing of experiences and support matchmaking to develop new partnerships and projects. The WG explores synergies between the areas linked to Smart Cities and cooperates with the ERRIN WGs on Energy and Climate Change, Transport and ICT.

Smart factories of the future: from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0

The Slovenian Business & Research Association is organising a conference on the meaning and future of smart factories and their benefits to society. The conference will touch upon the role smart factories play in the EU research and innovation agenda. Tampere Smart City Week 2020

A wide range of events on the subject of smart city developments will take place across Tampere at the end of January. Europe Towards Positive Energy Districts

The Programme of Positive Energy Districts and Neighbourhoods (PED Programme) is designed to support the planning, deployment and replication of 100 'Positive Energy Districts' across Europe by 2025. The programme has just released the first update to its booklet, which so far maps 60 urban projects.  PEDs will raise the quality of life in European cities, help reach COP21 targets and boost Europe's chances of becoming a global role model. At the end of January during the City Forum in Porto, the 'Join.Boost.Sustain Declaration on Upscaling Digital Urban Solutions' was officially signed by over 60 EU, national, regional and city leaders. The Partnership Driving urban transitions to a sustainable future (DUT) is the proposal for an urban partnership under Horizon Europe, which is currently under development led by JPI Urban Europe. ERRIN has been invited to participate and actively shape this new partnership. In order to tackle pressing societal challenges, a transformation of our urban systems is required. State of play - European Partnerships under Horizon Europe

The European Partnerships are set to deliver on the objectives of Horizon Europe and the priorities of the European Union through concerted research and innovation effort with the Member States, private sector, foundations and other stakeholders. Ideally the European Partnerships allow bringing together a broad range of actors to work towards a common vision and translating it into concrete roadmaps and coordinated implementation of activities.
