The main objectives of this Working Group are to stimulate cooperation between regions and with the different Directorates - General of the European Commission working on Transport, Mobility & Logistics innovation in order to raise awareness of the regional and local dimension in these areas and their potential for growth and employment and to facilitate project development within the area of regional capacity building in the framework of the Smart Specialisation Strategies.

Having identified the collective need for “a healthy planet as our greatest challenge and responsibility”, the President–elect, Ms von der Leyen proposed bolder emissions targets, with a reduction of 50% to 55% by 2030 and committed to submit a plan for a “Green Deal for Europe” and a European Climate Law within her first 100 days in office. A collaborative event between the Ministry of Economy, Transport and Innovation of Hamburg, ITS Hamburg 2021 and the Hanse-Office on automated and connected mobility is to take place this December.  Hamburg has already initiated various pilot projects in regards to new forms of mobility. EU Urban Road Safety Award

Applications will close later this month for the EU Urban Road Safety Award. The award celebrates and rewards local authorities for actions taken to improve road safety. Local authorities with outstanding innovation achievements that encourage the exchange of good practices across Europe are encouraged to apply.
