The Sustainable Smart Specialisation Strategy (S4) of the Friuli Venezia Giulia 2021-2027 encompasses five specialisation areas: Energy transition, circular economy and environmental sustainability; Smart factory and sustainable development of Made in Italy supply chains; Maritime Technologies - Sustainable Waterborne Mobility and its Land Connections connections; Health, quality of life, agribusiness and bio-economy; Cultural heritage, design, creative industries, tourism.

European Entrepreneurial Region (EER)
Friuli Venezia Giulia won the European Entrepreneurial Region 2024 award in July 2023, the specific territorial strategies which will be pursued next year rely on the implementation of three basic pillars: sustainability, digitalisation and clean energy in order to achieve climate neutrality by 2045 as set out in the Regional FVGreen Strategy.

GO!2025 Goriza-Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025
The City of Gorizia, together with the city of Nova Gorica, will host the first cross-border European Capital of Culture in 2025. The European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC GO) will be the tool used to carry out shared project both in Slovenia and in Italy. It can invest across the shared territory of the cities without the constraints of national and administrative borders, while coordinating cross-border investments and thus implementing a true joint conurbation.
