Pioneering Futures: Rethinking Cultural and Heritage Ecosystem
KU Leuven Institute for Cultural Heritage, in partnership with Una Europa and the Belgian presidency, is hosting an event on Pioneering Futures: Rethinking Cultural and Heritage Ecosystems. Hosted in Leuven as part of the official event calendar of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union, this event welcomes policymakers, academics, practitioners, and wider stakeholders to chart a course for the advancement of cultural and heritage ecosystems within a regional, national, and European context. The event will take place on 14 May 2024.
Knowledge valorisation for the regional and local R&I ecosystems
On 14 May, the European Committee of the Regions and DG R&I of the European Commission organise a seminar on "Knowledge valorisation for the regional and local R&I ecosystems". The conference will focus on how regional and local authorities can foster knowledge valorisation and boost innovation ecosystems, translating knowledge into practical and innovative solutions. It will discuss the role of Codes of Practice in strengthening knowledge valorisation capacities in R&I ecosystems and stimulate a mutual learning exercise on main recommendations and a toolbox for policymakers at the national and regional levels. Panel debates will exchange about practices that foster knowledge valorisation in Local Ecosystems and discuss how to unlock the regional potential of knowledge valorisation.
FoSS fifth-anniversary workshop: Smart specialisation – where from, where now, and where to... and why?
The Friends of Smart Specialisation (FoSS) are organising their fifth-anniversary workshop to discuss the current practice and future of S3 as the cohesion policy debate goes into full swing. The event will take place in person in Brussels on 15 May from 16:00-18:00, hosted by the Greater Birmingham West Midlands Brussels Office and Oslo Region European Office. The event will be followed by a networking cocktail.
Skills in the health sector: Health WG
The Health Working Group meeting will update colleagues on the European Commission’s initiatives linked to staff and skills shortages and training and up-skilling of the health workforce, exploring how regions and their health and innovation ecosystems can be involved in these initiatives. The event will take place at the ERRIN offices on 15 May from 14:30-16:00.

Europa Nostra and the European Investment Bank Institute are pleased to invite you to an online masterclass in funding and advisory services for cultural heritage provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) on 15 May 2024, from 14.30 to 16.00 CET.
Risks and Solutions: How climate change is impacting our water and health
The EEA will release a report on 15 May titled "Responding to climate change impacts on human health in Europe: focus on floods, droughts and water quality". The report, produced under the European Climate and Health Observatory, aims to help policymakers understand the effects of floods, droughts, and water quality on human health due to climate change.
S3 Webinar: Empowering interregional collaboration – from capacity to funding
The S3 Community of Practice and DG REGIO are organising a series of webinars directed to all S3 practitioners and stakeholders from regions across the EU. The first webinar in the series will focus on "Empowering interregional collaboration – from capacity to funding" and will be held by the S3 CoP Working Group on Interregional Collaboration on 16 May 2024 from 10:00-12:00 CEST.
Delivering the European Green Deal - towards a coherent and integrated EU ocean policy framework for offshore renewable wind energy and biodiversity
The European Green Deal (EGD) brings forth a comprehensive set of objectives and targets that are relevant to the use and protection of our oceans. A major challenge is the realisation of these ocean-related objectives. Current governance landscapes are multi-sector, multilevel and complex, and the pathway towards the achievement of the EGD ambitions for the European seas is not straightforward. In this roundtable, we will discuss the role of policy coherence and institutional integration in delivering the EGD, with a focus on offshore wind energy and biodiversity.

On 21 and 22 May, NCP4Missions, together with the European Commission, is organising the Horizon Europe Missions Brokerage Event on the 2024 Missions and cross-cutting calls for proposals.
The role of DIH in supporting public authorities’ digital transformation – ICT Working Group meeting
On Tuesday 21 May 2024 (10:30 to 12:30), the ICT Working Group will tackle the question of the support given by Digital Innovation Hubs to public authorities in their digital transformation journey.
Third Forum of the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change
The Third Forum of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change will take place on 23 May 2024 in Brussels under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During 22 May, parallel field trips to various locations in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels will be organised, and the day will conclude with a joint networking event.
S3 Webinar: Paving the way for industrial transition through systemic change and inclusive strategies

Webinar: Mapping of 15-minute city practices
This webinar will present the results of a mapping of 100 cities and their 400+ practices connected to the wider realm of 15-minute policies, as well as a deep dive into six case studies from across Europe. The mapping has been conducted as part of the 15-minute City Transition Pathway of the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, aiming to build an informed perspective on the vast range of practical definitions, strategies, instruments, experiences of implementation, and needs for research and innovation. Humanities in Space: Challenges and Opportunities
Space exploration is an area of research traditionally associated with science and technology. However, many key questions regarding space also concern social sciences and humanities, as space activities have clear social, cultural, and economic impacts on our societies. Live info session on Destination New European Bauhaus 2024
Following the adoption of the NEB Facility, the first multi-annual budget support tool for the New European Bauhaus from 2025 to 2027, the amended work programme of Horizon Europe for 2024 will now include the Destination New European Bauhaus with a budget of €20 million to prepare the ground for the implementation of the New European Bauhaus Facility 2025-2027. An info session will be held online on 26 April from 15:00-16:00.

How can heritage skills unlock the full potential of European regions?
In this online webinar, the CHARTER project will explore how heritage skills can unlock the potential of European regions. It will present the findings of six regional case studies on regional cultural heritage ecosystems, five coming from ERRIN members, showcasing how to better align the education and training offer with the labour market needs to equip future-ready skills and traditional heritage skills.
