Beyond borders: Strengthening EU-UK research collaboration

Academia Europeaea Cardiff Knowledge Hub is hosting an event on Strengthening EU-UK research collaboration on 24 November from 11:00-15:00. The meeting will take place at Cardiff University, Wales.

Since the referendum of 2016, the future of research collaboration between the EU and the UK has been very much in the spotlight. In September came the welcome news that the UK will associate to the Horizon Europe programme. Wales has a rich history of research collaboration with the rest of Europe and is home to many EU researchers at all career stages, but how do we continue to nurture and strengthen this relationship?

We invite you to join us for a half-day of lively discussion, debate, research highlights and networking.

Our first panel session will highlight opportunities of EU-UK research collaboration and address critical challenges and practical problems. Our second panel session will consider the role of policy engagement, examining how to communicate research outcomes and expertise with policymakers.

In addition to these panel discussions, we will showcase research conducted by EU nationals or funded through EU programmes in Wales. Researchers from all career stages will be invited to share their work through short, TED-style talks or posters, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and inspiration.

The event will conclude with a networking session, facilitating connections and idea-sharing among researchers based in Wales. This is a free and open event for researchers of all career stages.

This collaborative event, co-organised by Academia Europaea Cardiff Knowledge Hub and CONNECTS-UK (CONNecting European Communities Through Science in UK), aims to strengthen research ties between Wales, the EU, and the UK, creating bridges for future collaboration and collective progress.
