The ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting will take place on 16 November 2023 from 14:00-16:00 CET in the ERRIN premises. This Meeting is organised to make the necessary changes to the ERRIN Articles of Association following requirements by the new code for Belgian companies and associations. A minimum of 2/3 of the ERRIN members must be represented at the Meeting, and therefore engagement of each member is of crucial importance.
The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), in which ERRIN is involved, is organising its first General Conference on 8 November in Brussels. The conference will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and experts on the circular economy as well as the general public to explore how cities, regions and their partners across Europe are advancing from their political decisions and strategies towards the deployment of systemic solutions.
The European Commission and CINEA will organise the online event ‘The concept of the associated regions: Funding for associated regions under the Mission Ocean calls’, to present the Mission projects with open calls for associated regions. The event will take place on 20 October between 11:00-12:30 CEST. The target audience for this event are regional authorities/bodies/associations entitled to apply to the calls for associated regions.

On 19 September 2023, the European Commission published the list of actions that Member States and Associated Countries to Horizon Europe are so far undertaking or planning to undertake in support of one or more of the five flagships of the New European Innovation Agenda, including Flagship 3 closely followed by ERRIN. 20 countries have so far reported 169 actions in total, with their scope ranging from regional, through national to European.
Every year ERRIN holds elections for the Management Board. Becoming a member of the Board offers a great opportunity to develop ERRIN further and strategically lead the network’s activities. You can put forward your candidature for this year’s elections until 5 October.
On 6 September, the European Commission published a matchmaking map showcasing European regions that have so far expressed their interest to become a Regional Innovation Valley (RIV) by applying to the call for Expression of Interest launched in March 2023. The call for EoI is still open for new submissions until 18 September 2023.

In May, ERRIN organised a focus group meeting with regions to discuss the Charter of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2023 (Ocean and Waters Mission). The meeting was organised with the Mission Ocean Implementation Support Platform, in which ERRIN is a partner. Benefits and concerns around the Mission Charter, as well as how the support services proposed by the Charter can be improved to better support the needs of regions were discussed.
On 19 July, the European Commission (EC) published a Communication on the assessment of the EU Missions after two years of implementation. The EC details the Missions' successes but also recognises the need to address challenges related to governance, budget, citizens and private sector engagement. The EC also proposes to add a sixth Mission on the New European Bauhaus.

The ERRIN Bioeconomy Working Group is supporting its members in the development of successful project proposals in the field of sustainable food systems under the Horizon Europe Cluster 6 Work Programme 2023-2024. The working Group is launching an call for expression to identify the calls of interest for an open online project facilitation session which will take place on 3 October.
The Blue Economy Working Group is looking for regional examples of water-related nature-based solutions for climate change, to be presented in its upcoming meeting ‘Water issues in the era of climate change’. The meeting will take place on 5 October between 10:00 and 11:30 CEST. Deadline for contributions is on Friday 8 September.
