The Working Group promotes cooperation and facilitates dialogue between regions in the field of transport, mobility and logistics as well as with the EU institutions to raise awareness of the regional and local dimensions of the thematic areas. The group fosters discussion on new developments in EU policy and facilitates project development and participation in European projects.
On 19 November (15:00–16:00), the Transport Working Group will organise a meeting dedicated to AI in Transport, implementing the European AI Strategy, with a welcome coffee starting at 14:30.
On 4 November (14:30 – 16:30), the three Working Groups under the Low Carbon Cluster (Energy and Climate Change WG, Transport WG, Smart Cities WG) and the Policy WG will co-organise a meeting

The 9th edition of the Road Transport Research Conference (RTR Conference) will take place from 10 to 12 February 2026 at The EGG Brussels. Co-organised by ERTRAC, EGVIAfor2Zero, the CCAM Association and the European Commission DG Research & Innovation, with the support of BEPA, the event remains the key European platform to explore the results and impact of EU-funded road transport research.

As part of its work within the NetZeroCities project, ERRIN has developed three case studies showcasing the critical role that regions can play in the EU Mission on climate-neutral and smart cities, using examples from ERRIN member regions. With their climate-related competencies and responsibilities within national governance structures, and role in implementing national policies and facilitating financing, regions are uniquely positioned to support cities in achieving their climate neutrality goals.

As the largest annual event on EU Cohesion Policy, it provided a platform for cities and regions to exchange ideas on sustainable development, innovation and inclusiveness. ERRIN and its members were actively engaged throughout the week, contributing to and supporting several sessions that highlighted the importance of strong and connected regional innovation ecosystems.

ERRIN warmly congratulates the 103 European cities that have now been awarded the EU Cities Mission Label, following the lates round of recognitions presented by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025 in Brussels. 11 new cities received the EU Mission Label – including three from ERRIN member regions: Angers Loire Metropole (France), Eindhoven & Helmond (Netherlands) and Groningen (Netherlands).
The city of Assen, together with Hanze University of Applied Sciences (NL), is looking to join an existing consortium in the DUT 15-Minute City Call. We are interested in the DUT call 15mC call 3: Mobility policymaking in context of radical contestation, possibly in combination with the other two topics, depending on the specific topic of the research. We aim to contribute as a city pilot and applied research partner, offering a real-life case for testing and co-developing innovative participation and communication methods that engage citizens in sustainable mobility transitions.

This course offers a multidisciplinary and comparative perspective on governance and sustainable development in island contexts. Liguria Region is leading the action to support LIFE programme in post 2028. A letter is being prepared to be addressed to the President of the European Commission von der Leyen. If your region wishes to endorse the letter, you can do so without needing to include a logo or signature; the name of the organisation is sufficient. The deadline to join the initiative is 23 October.
