A circular economy at the heart of climate action: how materials connect the dots in the EU Green Deal

MEPs Maria Spyraki and Mohammed Chahim are to host an online event on the importance of materials in Europe's green transition. The session, organised through the European Parliament Intergroup on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development', will consider how climate policies alone are not enough and that materials are an unaddressed climate challenge.

Materials needed to produce cars, clothes, packaging and other consumer products still account for almost a quarter of global CO₂issions from energy and industry. A more circular economy will, therefore, be a major part of the climate policy toolbox, as this event will discuss.
