ERRIN online information session: Discover the European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage
ERRIN will host an online information session on3November (15:00–16:30) to introduce its members to the European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH), a new ten-year Horizon Europe partnership dedicated to safeguarding and strengthening Europe’s cultural heritage in the face of climate change.
The RCH Partnership brings together funding agencies, ministries, public authorities, researchers, heritage professionals and citizens to explore how cultural heritage can contribute to Europe’s resilience. It is based on a broad understanding of resilience: not only preserving what exists but adapting and transforming in ways that remain meaningful for communities.
Cultural heritage is exposed to climate impacts, yet it also offers knowledge, practices and social value that can support adaptation and mitigation. Over the next decade, RCH will invest in multidisciplinary research, knowledge exchange, capacity building and transnational collaboration to deepen this understanding and translate it into practical action.
The session on 3 November, held online from 15:00 to 16:30 CET, will give ERRIN members a clear introduction to the Partnership, its ambitions, opportunities for engagement and ensuring regions are positioned at the heart of the Partnership.
Cultural heritage is managed and experienced locally, and regional actors are often the first to confront the realities of climate change. ERRIN’s role is to ensure that regional and local perspectives are embedded throughout the Partnership and its future work. This session will provide an insight into various planned activities and tasks of the Partnership, including ERRIN's role as co‑leader of the task on mapping of regional and national ecosystems in resilient cultural heritage, helping to identify existing expertise, gaps and opportunities for collaboration.
A central element of the information session will be the Joint Transnational Calls, which form the Partnership’s main funding mechanism. Beginning in fall 2026, RCH will launch seven annual calls aligned with the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. During the info session on 3 November, ERRIN members will receive an overview of how the calls will work from a practical perspective, including the expected process and eligibility considerations, and will have the chance to exchange directly with the consortium lead and relevant partners in charge of the calls. This advanced insight will help regions begin preparing for collaboration and position themselves effectively within the emerging funding landscape.
An official webinar on Joint Transnational Calls will be organised by the RCH on 17 November 2026. The pre-announcement of the first Joint Transnational Call of the RCH Partnership was announced on October 20. The call, which will open on October 26, 2026, and close on January 11, 2027, will cover the topic of Foundations for climate-resilient cultural heritage: Assessing and managing impact and risk, dealing with damage and loss. More information can be found here.
