Representatives of Brussels-based offices leading the work of the Energy & Clean Transition Working Group.
The Energy & Clean Transition WG is part of the Low Carbon Cluster, together with the Transport and Smart Cities WGs. The Working Group acts as a platform for ERRIN members to exchange knowledge and engage with EU energy- and climate-related policies, legislation and funding programmes. In line with the European Green Deal, the Clean Industrial Deal and the European Commission’s 2024-2029 political priorities, the WG focuses on strengthening regional and local contributions to the clean transition, with priorities including Hydrogen Valleys, renewable energy integration and flexibility, energy grids and resilience, sustainable and affordable housing, energy storage and batteries. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and clean transition play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the SEFS, Climate Adaptation & Resilience and New European Bauhaus & Creativity Working Groups.
On 18 February (14:00–16:00), the Smart Cities WG, supported by the Energy and Climate Change WG, will organise a meeting on the EU Agenda for Cities and the European Urban Initiative Call 2026.

Between 9 and 11 June, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) is organising the 20th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the EU’s flagship event for clean energy and renewable solutions. EUSEW 2026 will be held under the overarching theme 'A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union'.
On 23 March, ERRIN's Science and Education for Society Working Group is organising a meeting 'Skills for Competitiveness' putting skills at the core of the competitiveness debate. The meeting aims to gain a deeper understanding of the skills provision challenges that regional innovation ecosystems face for strategic sectors and across the entire regional ecosystem. A call for member inputs to shape this meeting is open until 24 February.

NCBR is organising a study visit on Energy Efficient Buildings & New European Bauhaus (NEB), taking place on 11-12 March 2026 in Brussels and Genk (Belgium). This two-day event will bring together stakeholders from across Europe to foster collaboration, inspiration, and partnership-building in the fields of energy-efficient buildings and the New European Bauhaus, with a strong focus on opportunities under Horizon Europe.
The Upscaling MIRACLE event aims to share and disseminate the project’s results, placing them in dialogue with European agendas, policies and practices on risk management and climate change adaptation. Through exchange between research, institutions and stakeholders, the event seeks to support the transferability of the approaches developed and to foster a shared reflection on how territories can address complex risk conditions from a European perspective.
This Policy Working Group meeting will take place in-person on 24 February from 14:30–17:00, offering a space for reflection on ERRIN's role in resilience, security and defence. Together with the invited speakers, we will consider how the various elements of this complex topic can fit the network's ongoing work.

As part of its work within the NetZeroCities project, ERRIN has developed three case studies showcasing the critical role that regions can play in the EU Mission on climate-neutral and smart cities, using examples from ERRIN member regions.
