Transport and Smart Cities Working Groups Meeting: AI and mobility – interoperable data and smart e-mobility

On 21 October from 10:00 to 12:00, the ERRIN Transport and Smart Cities Working Groups will organise a meeting to explore how artificial intelligence and interoperable data infrastructures can support more connected, efficient and sustainable mobility systems.

The first part of the meeting will examine the European policy and digital infrastructure landscape for AI-enabled mobility. Bianca Jitea from DG CONNECT will discuss how data sharing and interoperability can strengthen mobility ecosystems and cross-border cooperation, including through initiatives such as the future European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) in the field of mobility and logistics. Hadrien Thebault from DG ENER will offer a perspective on smart e-mobility and the links between electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, renewable energy sources and electricity networks. The meeting will also consider how AI can support the integration of e-mobility into smart energy systems by optimising interactions between electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, renewable energy sources and electricity networks.

POLIS will present its work in this area and explore opportunities for collaboration, while Capillar IT, representing the Aragón Region, will provide a technological perspective on enabling AI-powered mobility through interoperable data infrastructures.

The second part of the meeting will connect these European policy and technological perspectives with concrete regional and local experiences. Examples from cities and regions will illustrate how AI-enabled mobility solutions are being tested and deployed in different territorial contexts. During the interactive discussion, participants will be encouraged to share the priorities, challenges and practical experiences of their regions and cities. The exchange will help identify common needs and opportunities for stronger collaboration across the mobility, digital and energy sectors, as well as for scaling and replicating successful solutions across territories.
