The EU Missions and the mission-oriented approach in the next MFF
With the Horizon Europe (FP10) and European Competitiveness Fund (ECF) proposals currently under discussion at the European Parliament and the Council, ERRIN will hold a meeting focusing on the future of EU Missions in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). It will provide an opportunity to reflect on the role of the mission-oriented approach in the EU’s future R&I policy and funding landscape and will build on ERRIN’s recent paper, which gathers evidence and concrete examples from Mission implementation in regions, cities and innovation ecosystems across Europe.
EU Missions have contributed to more coordinated approaches linking research, innovation, governance and investment, supporting systemic transformation in areas such as climate adaptation, urban transition, soil health and water resilience. Looking ahead, the meeting will explore how to maintain and strengthen the mission-oriented approach, including the need to ensure stronger alignment between EU instruments and a more effective pathway from research and innovation to deployment and scale-up.
The meeting will also provide an update from the European Commission on ongoing discussions on the future EU Missions and offer a space for exchange on their future beyond 2027.
This policy discussion is targeted at ERRIN members actively engaged in EU Missions. Registration for the meeting is open through the registration button on the right side of this page. Only logged-in users will be able to register.
