Harnessing the potential of offshore wind energy through skills development

EUSEW 2023: Harnessing the potential of offshore wind energy through skills development

The new geopolitical and energy market realities require us to accelerate our clean energy transition and that is one of the main priorities of the REPowerEU plan. However, the lack of skilled workers in that field might be a stumbling block in achieving this goal. Therefore, the challenge is both the adaptation of the education system as well as having an adequate number of entities offering the opportunity to train and grant the necessary licenses and certificates to work in the offshore sector. The debate intends to show what are the challenges and how to meet them when organizing an adequate education system and preparing competencies for the modern economy. The conclusions of the debate, based on the experiences presented, should become universal recommendations for other EU countries.
