EWRC session

EWRC session: Resilience of EU innovation ecosystems

The session will analyse the various aspects of the impact of COVID-19 on the EU and how S3 models have helped during the lockdown and will help further in the post-crisis transition.

The magnitude of the crisis varies depending on sectoral and/or geographical factors. To assess the specific effects of the crisis, JRC experts will analyse its impact on employment and GDP on EU ecosystems and key S3 priorities. In this connection, the impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector in southern Europe will be assessed. This assessment will assist with the design of medium- and long-term S3 policies.
As well as these medium- and long-term models, it is also relevant to analyse the resilience of EU S3 ecosystems in the short term and their rapid response when the pandemic emerged. To this end, national and regional representatives will present different initiatives to increase coordination and interactions between stakeholders and will introduce examples of the rapid adaptation of business patterns to COVID-19.
