Food 2030: Regions as Agents of Change for Sustainable Food Systems and Bio-Based Solutions

ERRIN is supporting a Participatory Lab organised by the European Commission within the frame of the European Week of Regions and Cities. Moderated by the ERRIN Director, Pirita Lindholm, the event will focus on the role of regions in strengthening and further developing sustainable food systems and bio-based solutions in Europe.

In light of the recently published progress report on the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, the event presents a timely opportunity for regions to reflect on the gaps and opportunities of the European bioeconomy and provide some feedback to the Food 2030 policy. This session also presents an excellent opportunity for regions to provide input to and inspire the strategic planning process for the second phase of the Horizon Europe programme.

The Participatory Lab will be an interactive session on 'Feedback to Policy', where attendees will be able to provide their ideas and thoughts to build the food systems and bio-based solutions of the future in Europe. Speakers from the European Commission will set the scene from a policy perspective, while ERRIN members will present their activities within the fields of bio-based solutions and food systems. The Navarra Region (Spain) will discuss how the Recovery and Resilience Plans can act as instruments for food system transformations in regions, and the Paper Province Cluster (Värmland, Sweden) will present their experiences on transitioning into bio-based solutions.
