Innovation and skills for a sustainable transport system

The European transport system is undergoing a transformation to become digital, electric, and connected. This implies new and large challenges for companies in order to adapt and maintain competitiveness, especially among SMEs.

As a result, this requires new competence and new collaborations, and effective platforms for innovation exchange and development between regions and counties in the automotive sector. The great need for reskilling and upskilling is also highlighted by the EU, which designated 2023 as the European Year of Skills. This puts in return new light and challenges universities, the public sector, and innovation hubs regarding how they support companies in this transition.

Fordonsdalen (Vehicle Valley in Swedish) is a project run by Region Stockholm, the Royal Institute of Technology, Kista Science City, and Södertälje Science Park with support from regions in East Central Sweden and from several large companies in Sweden. Between 2020-2023 they have been running several projects with the goal to support SMEs in the automotive industry, increasing research and innovation capacity in the region, as well as developing test and demonstration arenas, reskilling platforms, and deepening interregional collaborations.

Join us to learn more about the regional perspective on mobilising an innovation cluster, skills, and taking a systemic approach to the transition of the automotive sector.

The seminar will be held in person but with the possibility to attend online.

A light breakfast will be offered.
